Fatal Accident: Metro-North Train Strikes and Kills Man in His 60s in Connecticut

An unidentified man in his mid-60s was struck and killed by a train near Ansonia, Conn. on Friday. The incident occurred around 1:40 p.m. The train was traveling at 42 mph on the Waterbury Line when the engineer spotted the man on the tracks and activated the emergency brakes. Despite the efforts, the man did not attempt to get out of the way and was pronounced dead shortly after by paramedics. Service on the route was suspended for about four hours while authorities investigated the incident. Passengers were offered buses and alternate train services. MTA announced that service on the Waterbury Branch had resumed with residual delays.
