John Oates Speaks Out in the Midst of Daryl Hall Lawsuit and Restraining Order
November 25, 2023John Oates has addressed being sued by Daryl Hall, but he isn’t acknowledging any legal issues. The other half of the pop duo Hall & Oates took to social media to share a Thanksgiving message, encouraging a “more compassionate and supportive world.” “During this time of communal reflection and connection with loved ones, let’s not forget those experiencing challenges globally,” he wrote on Instagram. Oates, 75, concluded his post, writing, “May our collective efforts contribute to a more compassionate and supportive world.” Court records show that Hall filed a complaint against Oates and the co-trustees of the John W. Oates TISA Trust on Nov. 16. The lawsuit reportedly involves allegations of a contract breach, potentially stemming from royalties or Oates performing the group’s music during solo shows. The pair has previously been in arbitration. Since the early 1970s, the Hall & Oates have released 18 studio albums, featuring six chart-toppers, including “Maneater,” “Rich Girl” and “Out of Touch.”
