A city Department of Education employee has been arrested for attempting to kidnap a 15-year-old girl in Queens Village near Francis Lewis Blvd. and 113th Road as she made her way to school, police said. Yogeshwar Narine, 32, is facing charges of attempted kidnapping, endangering the welfare of a child, luring a child, and attempted unlawful imprisonment. He is a thermostat repairman for the Department of Education. Narine approached the girl on her way to school and tried to chat her up before grabbing her and attempting to pull her into his SUV. The teen was able to break free and run away, while Narine fled the scene in his SUV, which was later tracked by detectives. There is no indication that Narine knew the teen from his work at city schools. This is his first arrest in the city, and his arraignment in Queens Criminal Court was pending as of Friday.
