Police Sources Believe Missing Irish Filmmaker’s Body May Be Headless

The police suspect the torso found on a Rockaway beach may belong to missing Irish filmmaker and photographer Ross McDonnell. His dead body was discovered near the Silver Gull Beach Club at the federally-owned Gateway National Recreation Area. McDonnell, 44, was last seen riding his bike to the Rockaways on Nov. 4. His bike was discovered near the location where the body was found. Friends believe McDonnell may have gone into the ocean, as circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain unclear. As the search for McDonnell continues, friends are using social media to gather information and praying for his safe return. The city Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death through an autopsy.
