Mother Found Guilty for Attempting to Treat Daughter’s Cancer with CBD Oil

The mother of an Oregon girl who refused surgery for liver cancer and instead gave her CBD oil before going on the run has been found guilty of mistreatment. Christina Gale Dixon, 39, was accused of interfering in her then-13-year-old daughter Kylee’s medical care. In 2019, she tried to stop the girl from having surgery to remove a cancerous liver tumor after a number of doctors recommended chemotherapy followed by surgery. Dixon attempted to seek other treatments outside of the state, and took Kylee with her. Kylee Dixon, now 17, underwent successful surgery in early 2020 and was pronounced cancer-free, Clackamas County prosecutors said. Dixon, who represented herself in court and testified in her own defense, faces up to 19 months in prison after being found guilty of first-degree custodial interference and two counts of first-degree criminal mistreatment.
