Cam Thomas suggested he would not struggle to score on Thursday after nine games absence. In the Nets’ 129-128 loss against the Charlotte Hornets, Thomas scored 26 points on 11-of-21 shooting. Despite scoring high, he contributed just two rebounds and one assist in his 25 minutes back in the court. There was a minutes restriction on Thomas. Following his return, Mikal Bridges and Spencer Dinwiddie continued to have heavy workloads. Nicolas Claxton had 20 points and 14 rebounds. Lonnie Walker IV played just 14 minutes after averaging 21 minutes in Thomas’ absence. Head coach Jacque Vaughn said the challenge for Thomas was integrating within the team. The Nets trailed the Hornets 73-71 at halftime. Thomas scored nine points in the second half and did not return to the game. The Nets struggles defensively, allowing the Hornets to shoot 50.5% from the field and surrendering 21 3-pointers. The game ended with a missed attempt by Cam Johnson to win. The Nets were outrebounded 52-41 and surrendered 13 offensive rebounds. Brooklyn’s defensive lapses were due to a lack of concentration.
