A construction worker was killed in the East Village Friday morning when he was run over by a cherry picker driven by his own father, cops and witnesses said. The 19-year-old victim was acting as a flagger for the reversing cherry picker truck near the corner of First Ave. and E. 7th St. about 8:30 a.m. when he got caught under the wheels. The teen was standing behind the reversing truck when the accident occurred. The driver of the cherry picker was being questioned by police Friday. Two hours earlier, at about 6:30 a.m., an unidentified man was run down by a Ford pick-up truck as he crossed 47th St. and Seventh Ave. in Midtown, police said. A driver was turning onto Seventh Ave. when he struck the victim, who is believed to be in his 40s, in the crosswalk. At 6:50 p.m. Thursday, a hit-and-run driver in a dark-colored four-door sedan plowed into a 72-year-old woman pulling a cart across Marine Ave. near 96th St. in Bay Ridge. The woman died at the scene and her name was not immediately disclosed as cops search for relatives. This year has been the safest for pedestrians in the Vision Zero era, Harris said.
