A military helicopter crash in the eastern Mediterranean Sea has claimed the lives of five U.S. service members during a training mission on Saturday. The cause of the incident is under investigation, and the victims have not been publicly identified. The U.S. military’s European Command confirmed that all five crew members were killed during a routine air refueling mission as part of military training. Search and rescue efforts immediately began, and the names of the crew members are being withheld for 24 hours in respect for the families and in accordance with Department of Defense policy.
