Tiffany Haddish’s Repeat DUI Arrest: Falling Asleep at the Wheel
November 24, 2023Tiffany Haddish was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence early Friday morning — marking the second time she’s been arrested for the same offense in less than two years. According to Variety, Lt. Chris Coulter of the Beverly Hills Police Department confirmed the comedian and actress was booked on DUI charges. Haddish was reportedly found asleep behind the wheel of her car, which was parked but running in the middle of Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills. No injuries were reported. Video footage published by TMZ shows the “Girls Trip” star being cooperative as she was handcuffed and taken to the police station by arresting officers. The previous evening, the 43-year-old funnywoman appeared at The Laugh Factory comedy club’s 43rd annual Thanksgiving dinner for the community. There, she performed jokes and helped serve guests dinner, KTLA reported. “When I first started here, I was sitting at the tables eating, I was receiving a meal,” Haddish, who has previously spoken about being homeless, told the outlet. “Full circle, and I’m so glad to keep doing that.” Prior to Friday’s interaction with law enforcement, the Grammy Award winner was already scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 4 for a previous DUI arrest in Georgia in January 2022. In that run-in with the law, she was arrested by Peachtree City police officers for a suspected DUI and improper stopping on a roadway. Authorities received a 911 call about a driver who had allegedly fallen asleep at the wheel on Highway 74 at around 2:30 a.m. local time. “Yes, I did get charged with a DUI, which stand[s] for Dumb Unfortunate Incidents,” Haddish joked about the incident while guest hosting “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” the following April.
