The 61-year-old brings veteran managerial experience, having led the Blue Jays to the ALCS in 2015 and 2016. Although he was fired after the 2018 season, Gibbons remains a well-liked figure in Toronto. His return to the Mets organization marks a full circle, as he played 18 games with the team in the 1980s and began his coaching career with the Mets as well. With the addition of Gibbons, the Mets’ coaching staff is nearly complete for the 2024 season.
