“The Gwyneth Paltrow Ski Accident Trial: A Musical Journey” Set to Open in London
November 16, 2023The upcoming theatrical musical in London, titled “Gwyneth Goes Skiing,” is inspired by Gwyneth Paltrow’s highly publicized ski accident trial. Set to open at the Pleasance Theatre on Dec. 13, the comedy will allow audience members to act as the jury. The production will feature original songs written by Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Leland and will star Swedish-born actor Linus Karp as Paltrow and Joseph Martin as Terry Sanderson, the retired Utah optometrist who accused Paltrow of injuring him in a skiing accident in 2016. The musical’s description describes it as “a story of love, betrayal, skiing, and (somehow) Christmas — where you are the jury.”
In 2019, Sanderson sued Paltrow for $3 million, claiming she had crashed into him while skiing, causing injuries that led to a decline in his health. Paltrow denied the claims and the trial eventually found Sanderson at fault for the crash, awarding Paltrow a symbolic $1 in damages.
