Texas Student Found Dead in Car Trunk, Boyfriend Taken Into CustodyNovember 29, 2023
A 19-year-old man was arrested and charged with the murder of his girlfriend, just a day after her dead body was found in her car’s trunk with “signs of trauma to her face,” Houston police said Wednesday. The victim’s name was Idania Maria Campos Muñoz, 21, and her body was discovered inside the trunk of her black Honda Civic in the Meyerland neighborhood of southwest Houston. She had gone missing just a few hours earlier, and her family had reported her missing to the Houston Police Department. Initially, nothing seemed suspicious about the car, but later the victim’s father broke into the car and found his daughter’s body. Ariel Cruz was arrested after confessing “to his role in his girlfriend’s death.” He had been at the scene along with the family, consoling them and spending time with them over the weekend. Cruz was booked into the Harris County Jail with a bond set at $600,000.
