Self-Defense Claimed by Elderly NYC Man Accused of Killing Roommate

The 70-year-old man released without bail after claiming self-defense in deadly Midtwon stabbing
Michael Pinder was charged with attempted manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon in the Tuesday slaying of Joseph Pescitelli, 71. Cops found Pescitelli covered in blood with stab wounds to his back and arm. Pinder also had slash wounds. At his arraignment, Pinder claimed that Pescitelli was the initial aggressor. Pinder has five prior arrests in the city but has not come into contact with the police since 2000. Prosecutors requested Pinder be placed under supervised release pending his next court appearance on Jan. 22.
