Remembering Teen Who Was Beat to Death by Classmates – A Hero’s StoryNovember 14, 2023
The late Jonathan Lewis Jr., 17, was involved in a physical altercation with about 15 individuals near Rancho High School. He was defending a smaller student who was being picked on and had something stolen from him before being thrown into a trash bin. Jonathan tried to intervene to protect his friend but ended up being the target of the group’s violence. A video of the attack has been circulating online, showing Jonathan being surrounded, shoved into a fence, forced onto the ground, and repeatedly struck by the mob of students. Despite being taken to the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada and put on life support, Jonathan passed away four days later. His father described him as a kind, loving, and gentle young man with a heart of a champion. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s homicide unit is currently investigating the attack, but no arrests have been made so far.
