A Memphis man died by suicide early Sunday morning after fatally shooting three women and a teenage girl hours earlier, police said. Mavis Christian Jr., 52, was suspected in three different shootings across Memphis, according to the Memphis Police Department. Officers found him around 3:30 a.m. Sunday in his car dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The victims have not been publicly identified, but police said they were related. Christian first opened fire on three people around 5:30 p.m., according to investigators. An adult woman and a 13-year-old girl were killed, and a 15-year-old girl was critically wounded, police said. About an hour later, Christian fatally shot another adult woman, cops said. He shot his final victim around three hours after that, according to police. The third shooting was the moment officers realized all three violent crime scenes were connected, the Memphis Police Department said. “Preliminary information indicates this was a domestic violence incident, and the suspect is a known relative who fled each scene in a white 2017 Chevrolet Malibu,” the department said. When Christian was found dead, he was sitting in the Malibu, according to police.
