The parents of Jillian Ludwig, an 18-year-old Belmont University freshman who was killed by a stray bullet near the Nashville campus this week, are struggling to process their sudden loss. Her father, Matt Ludwig, told Good Morning America that it’s hard to comprehend and her mother Jessica Ludwig said there’s a piece of her heart that was taken from her. Jillian was shot in Edgehill Community Memorial Gardens Park. Shaquille Taylor was trying to shoot at a vehicle across the street, but hit Jillian instead. He has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault and evidence tampering. He has been criminally charged multiple times in the past, including a carjacking incident in September. Ludwig’s father believes Taylor should not have been released.
