Government Announces Second Wave of Complimentary In-Home COVID Testing Kits
November 21, 2023The federal government is now providing an additional round of cost-free COVID-19 tests starting Monday for all U.S. residents. In September, those who neglected to order tests have another opportunity to do so. This upcoming round of testing allows for two orders, totaling 8 tests. With the rise in flu and RSV rates, health officials are urging the public to take advantage of these tests to help maintain steady COVID-19 rates and hospitalizations. Additionally, insurance companies are no longer covering test expenses, with the average cost of tests being $11 each. As of now, 14.5 million households have ordered free tests since September. Health officials are emphasizing the importance of getting vaccinated against COVID-19, particularly as the pandemic is still causing around 1,200 deaths weekly.
