Florida Police Arrest Rapper Kodak Black on Cocaine Charge
December 7, 2023
Rapper Kodak Black is facing charges of cocaine possession and evidence tampering following a Thursday arrest in southern Florida, according to the Sun Sentinel. He was detained in Plantation, Fla., awaiting to see a judge. Born Bill Kahan Kapri, the “Super Gremlin” performer was accused of trafficking oxycodone in July 2022 in Fort Lauderdale and was found carrying nearly $75,000 in cash. An arrest warrant was issued for the 26-year-old Florida native in June for missing a drug test tied to the conditions of his release on bail. Kodak Black also missed a Feb. 3 drug test and reportedly tested positive for fentanyl less than a week later. His past encounters with the law include weapons charges in 2019, as well as a plea of guilt to assaulting a teenage girl in 2016. Despite his criminal conduct, in 2021 he was honored with a proclamation in Broward County for his voluntary community service, which included paying school costs for two children of FBI agents who were slain during a raid. However, Commissioner Mark Bogen expressed disapproval of this honor, stating that Kodak Black is not worthy of being honored based on his past criminal conduct. In 2022, the rapper helped pay rent for 28 West Palm Beach families facing eviction. With News Wire Services
