Ethan Crumbley’s Parents to Stand Trial Separately in School Shooting Case
November 13, 2023James and Jennifer Crumbley will be tried separately for allegedly aiding their son Ethan Crumbley in purchasing the gun used in the Michigan school shooting. They were scheduled to stand trial together in January, but their lawyers argued for separate trials, claiming it would affect their rights to a fair hearing. Prosecutors and the judge agreed that the Crumbleys have the right to individual trials. Ethan Crumbley, who pleaded guilty in October 2022, was found to have made a disturbing drawing on the day of the shooting, which his parents were made aware of but did not take him out of school. The parents pleaded not guilty, and there have been allegations of blame between them.
