The Los Angeles police are alerting the city’s homeless population about a potential serial killer responsible for at least three shootings this week. Mayor Karen Bass stated in a press conference on Friday that the killer is targeting the unhoused. The victims, including a 37-year-old, a 62-year-old, and a 52-year-old, were all killed in a similar manner while they were sleeping, before the shooter drove away. Mayor Bass urged Angelinos to warn any homeless individuals they know of the danger while ensuring that the police will catch the killer. She also advised homeless individuals to seek shelter and stay together. The Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority reported a 10% increase in the homeless population from 2022, bringing the total to an estimated 46,260 people. CEO Dr. Va Lecia Adams Kellum described the situation as a growing crisis.
