Six people were killed and three others were wounded, two of them police officers, in a series of deadly incidents in two Texas cities, police stated. The suspect, who remains unidentified, has been charged with capital murder and there are additional charges pending. The Austin Interim Police Chief, Robin Henderson, revealed that the unidentified suspect was arrested on Tuesday evening after a shootout with a police officer, leaving the officer with multiple gunshot wounds. The series of violent incidents began on Tuesday morning and continued until the evening, Henderson stated. The suspect opened fire on an Austin Independent School District police officer, then shot and wounded a man on a bicycle, as well as another Austin police officer. Following reports of a burglary at a residence, the police officer discovered two deceased individuals, leading to a brief police chase and the suspect’s subsequent arrest after a vehicular crash. In addition, the Bexar County Sheriff, Javier Salazar, stated that two individuals were found dead in a residence east of San Antonio, alleged to be connected to the suspect. Henderson and Salazar believe that one suspect is responsible for all of the incidents. Moreover, Henderson did not provide further information on the cause of the four Austin victims’ deaths. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to understand the connection between all of the incidents.
