Criticism for Kanye West’s Antisemitic Lyric in ‘Vultures’ GrowsNovember 29, 2023
Kanye West is once again facing backlash for antisemitic remarks, specifically a “disgusting” lyric in the new song “Vultures” that was recently leaked. The Anti-Defamation League and the American Jewish Committee are concerned about the lyric in light of “rising antisemitism worldwide” since the Israel-Hamas war in October.
Despite denying any antisemitic sentiment behind the lyric in which he refers to having “f–ked a Jewish b—h,” the Jewish advocacy groups disagree. A spokesperson for the ADL called it “disgusting to see Kanye once again use his platform to spew Jew hatred” and characterized West as an “unrepentant antisemite and clearly a misogynist.”
The AJC spokesperson also criticized the lyric as “particularly pathetic and sad,” condemning West for promoting “bile” to his millions of followers, especially at a “fraught and dangerous time for the Jewish community.”
The criticisms come after West’s first live performance of the lyrics in Dubai, alongside Ty Dolla $ign and Lil Durk. The Israel-Hamas war began on October 7, and the article details the casualties and attacks from both sides.
