Arrest Made in Connection with Stray Bullet Fatal Shooting in Queens Gang Slaying in 2021

A suspect was arrested in connection to the 2021 Queens gang slaying that resulted in the death of a mother who was walking home from a store, police said. Deyrod Blake, 33, was charged with murder and gun possession for allegedly killing Elliot Clairborne, 29, outside the Woodside Houses in Astoria. Clairborne, an ex-convict, was shot multiple times. The shooting was linked to a gang rivalry that also led to the stray bullet killing of Gudelia Vallinas, 37, earlier that month. Vallinas was hit in the head by a bullet as she walked home on March 12, 2021, and police said the shooting was related to the same gang rivalry.
